24/7 Cloud Virtual Network (CVN)

The 24/7 Cloud Virtual Network (CVN) is a cloud computing product with a difference in that it provides everything you expect from traditional hardware installed in the office without the substantial cost of ownership that comes with it.

CVN is ideally suited to businesses that are in desperate need of a new IT system but are struggling with the large capital investment, or those that would just benefit from being able to continue to work normally while out of the office. With low up-front setup costs and affordable monthly payment structure, hassle free access to Microsoft’s latest versions of server and desktop application software is now readily available. An optional cloud based Virtual Telephone System can be bolted onto CVN to provide a totally integrated virtual office.

The standard CVN package consists of a virtual Microsoft Small Business Server providing the users with access to their software applications, data and email from almost anywhere in the world. Virtual Windows desktops provide each user with a fully functional Exchange mailbox plus any Microsoft desktop applications that they need. Third party or bespoke software can also be included subject to survey and cooperation from the application vendor where needed.

The virtual server and desktops run on high performance hardware situated in an accredited, secure datacentre and are protected by a comprehensive backup and anti-virus service. Access to the CVN server is extremely versatile allowing full creation and editing of documents from virtually any desktop or handheld computer including PC, laptop, iPad, Android Tablet, Smartphone, etc.

All that is needed is a reasonably good Internet connection, including 3G, and with proven success from areas of Europe, USA and the Middle East, remote access from other worldwide locations should not be a problem. Worldwide free internal telephone calls to and from the office are also available when using the optional Virtual Telephone System with a Softphone App on the access device. The access device only contributes the keyboard, mouse and display functions to the operation of the virtual desktop so old PC’s beyond their normal useful life can be reused and work as if new avoiding the need for further expenditure.

How does it work?

CVN is a pay-as-you-go public cloud solution running on hardware located in our datacentre and accessed via the Internet. Software is again paid for on a monthly basis but there is a minimum contract period of 12 months. CVN is a fully managed solution providing users with virtual Windows 7 desktops and access to the software applications that they need.

Being in the cloud, the server hardware is removed from the office reducing electricity consumption by approximately £700 per year and eliminating the administrative headache of keeping it running. There is also an additional opportunity to save money and improve the company’s ‘green credentials’ with the use of eco-friendly Thin Client devices.

Thin Clients are not essential to the system but used in place of PC’s they cost 60% less to buy and consume 80% less electricity saving around £40 per year per device in running costs. Virtual desktops can be accessed by old PC’s essentially revitalising them to extend their useful life.
